On the evening of August 6, 2023 Summer Research Camp for Overseas Chinese Teenagers opened. More than 100 teenagers of Chinese descent from more than 20 countries and regions gathered in Beijing to experience Chinese civilization.

More than 100 Chinese teenagers from five continents arrived in Beijing on the same day. Though their faces are tired, they can hardly hide their touching smiles.

One of the youngest campers is Wanting, a six-year-old from Germany. Ms. Wan is not fluent in Chinese. When she checked in, she wore a cap and lowered her head. As she faces the camera, she takes off her hat, smiles and whispers "Beijing, here I come" in Chinese, followed by a whispering "thank you."

Sun Yang, the teacher leading the team from Zambia, arrived in Beijing at 2 a.m. on the 6th after transferring from Lusaka to Dubai. She led four young Zambian Chinese to Beijing. She said the four children came from different places, and they were all very excited to participate in such an activity in Beijing for the first time.

"Before the trip, one of the campers suddenly fell ill and was on a drip. The parents hoped to persuade the child to give up the trip, but the child tried again and again and still came." "Said Xie Limei, a teacher from South Korea who led the team.

After dinner, the Chinese teenagers started the "ice-breaking group building" together. The campers were divided into six teams and played games such as grabbing stools and passing flowers on drums
